Start-up German zero emission truck converter Quantron is on the brink as the district court in Augsburg, Germany appoints a preliminary insolvency lawyer.
According to a statement on the appointed insolvency lawyer BBL’s website, the German zero emission truck builder Quantron AG has been in preliminary insolvency proceedings since 29 October 2024. The Augsburg Local Court has appointed lawyer Constantin Graf Salm-Hoogstraeten from BBL as provisional insolvency administrator for the company’s assets.
Together with his team, he will now assess the situation of the company. “We first have to get a precise picture of the figures and the situation on the ground before we can make reliable statements about the chances of continuation,” says Salm-Hoogstraeten. His team is currently also examining the possibility of organising pre-financing of the insolvency money for the employees. Quantron AG was founded in July 2019 as a spin-off of Haller GmbH & Co. KG. and currently employs about 90 people.
The background to the imbalance is currently unclear, says the statement. It is publicly known that the founder and CEO, Andreas Haller, is undergoing rehabilitation after his second heart attack in September 2024. The company is currently led by Beate Reimann (CFO since the beginning of February 2024) and Rene Wollmann (CTO since April 2023) as well as Denis Muratov (Chairman of the Supervisory Board) as interim CEO. During this period, the management board at Quantron are restricted from disposing of or acquiring company assets without the approval of the provisional insolvency administrator.
Quantron had been on the cusp of making a UK market entrance, having been involved in the recently announced HYVE Tees Valley hydrogen truck demonstration programme. Those plans would appear to be on hold until the financial troubles are addressed.
