Flexis, the joint venture between Renault Group, Volvo Group and CMA CGM, has revealed more details about its fully electric, software-defined electric vans, set for production at Renault Group’s Sandouville plant in France. Pre-orders will open in late 2025, with the first customer deliveries expected by mid-2026.
The company has already secured 10 letters of intent to purchase from logistics providers in France, the UK and Germany, including Colis Privé, HIVED, and DB Schenker. These represent a potential demand of 15,000 vehicles over the next three years, with operators working closely with Flexis to co-develop tailored solutions.
As Flexis is just entering the industrialisation and pre-commercial phase the comopany said “it is too early to give market entry price indications”.
“Since the creation of Flexis, we have worked with customers and logistics players to co-create the services to meet operational needs and improve the B2B offer on the market with a solution that is 100% electric, 100% connected, 100% customisable, and 100% designed for cities,” said Flexis CEO Philippe Divry.
The three-vehicle range consists of the Step-in Van, Panel Van and Cargo Van, all based on an EV-native platform with software-defined vehicle (SDV) electronic architecture. These vans are designed to be customisable, ergonomic and suited for city logistics, with a low floor height, interior configurations that don’t require retrofitting and compact dimensions for urban operations. The Cargo Van is capable of integrating different widths, heights and beds, as well as modular solutions including refrigerated boxes.
Driver comfort and safety have also been key design considerations. The driver seat is positioned at an optimal height to reduce knee strain, particularly for drivers making up to 250 repetitive movements per day.
Mathias Krieger, co-founder and CEO of all-electric London-based parcel delivery operator HIVED, said: “HIVED is looking to reinvent mass market package logistics focused on customer centricity, electric transport and technical innovation. We are excited to influence the development of vehicles truly adapted to our use needs and to the reality of our delivery services. We look forward to integrating the vehicles into our operations and measuring the impact we will have on the road and more largely on influencing the future of the sector.”
Flexis’ 800V batteries will support DC fast charging, reaching 80% of capacity in just 20 minutes. Two battery options will be available, both designed to provide enough range for a full day’s deliveries on a single charge.
While Flexis does not provide its own charging infrastructure, it offers consulting services, including infrastructure audits, traffic analysis and energy management, to help fleet operators transition to electric vehicles. The company also supports delivery route optimisation to improve operational efficiency.
With €360m (£300m) invested in R&D, Flexis has now entered its industrialisation phase. The first pre-series vehicles will be built in late 2025, with firm pre-orders opening at the same time. Production will take place at Renault Group’s Sandouville plant, ensuring full-scale manufacturing from launch.
Flexis vehicles are equipped with real-time fleet data transmission and over-the-air (OTA) updates. The company will provide ‘FlexE Connect,’ a digital platform that enables logistics operators to track vehicle performance, schedule maintenance and manage charging.
“Through the data connectivity of the Flexis vehicles and a team of experts, we offer personalised recommendations to improve our clients’ overall operations, offering solutions like delivery route optimisation, significantly reducing vehicle breakdowns through preventive and predictive maintenance, securing the charging of the vehicles and with uninterrupted advisory support we create and implement actions to resolve any setbacks,” explained Pierre Sirolli, head of Flexis services and solutions.
Flexis will sell vehicles direct to logistics providers and fleet managers, with Renault Group and Renault Trucks also distributing them under their own brands.
