Voltloader’s recent order of Volvo FM Electric tractors marks a significant step toward sustainable bulk tipping services in the transportation industry.
Voltloader, an electric bulk haulage and HGV charging provider, has confirmed an order for two Volvo FM Electric 4x2 tractor units, each equipped with a substantial 540kWh battery capacity. These electric vehicles will be deployed at Voltloader’s Cambridgeshire depot, primarily for the transportation of grain and agricultural produce across the region. To optimise payload capacity, these tractors will be utilised in conjunction with Weightlifter tipping trailers.
Charging for the Volvo FM Electric tractors will be facilitated through 150kWh DC charge points, strategically installed at Voltloader’s Cambridgeshire depot, with plans to open these charging facilities for broader customer use next year. Notably, the vehicles come with Volvo Gold coverage, offering comprehensive repair and preventive maintenance services to ensure maximum uptime.
Voltloader’s mission is to assist its customers in managing the relatively high initial capital costs associated with transitioning to electric vehicles, while enabling long-term benefits like emissions reduction and cost savings. The company is also pioneering the concept of long-term price stability for its customers by anchoring its pricing with extended fixed-price electricity contracts.
