Volta Trucks has recently announced a strategic partnership with EAVX, a business unit within J.B. Poindexter & Co., Inc. (JBPCO), to collaborate on building truck bodies for the upcoming Pilot Fleet of all-electric Volta Zeros in the United States.
EAVXwill develop, prototype, and produce the custom bodies for the Pilot Fleet of Volta Zeros. Recognizing the critical importance of precise integration with the unique frame design, EAVX will ensure the truck bodies accommodate the batteries while maintaining their safety and accessibility without adding unnecessary weight.
As part of the Driving Experience Programme, the Volta Zero Pilot Fleet, featuring EAVX bodies and technology, is scheduled to be deployed on US roads in late 2023. This programme will enable fleet operators to assess the performance and suitability of the Volta Zero in real distribution environments. Starting on the west coast of the US, the programme will gradually expand, leading to the anticipated release of production vehicles in 2024. This phased approach ensures thorough evaluation and refinement of the Volta Zero’s capabilities before its full-scale deployment.
“We are delighted to be partnering with EAVX to bring our Pilot Fleet of electric trucks to the US market. EAVX has a proven track record of designing and engineering innovative mobility solutions and we believe their expertise will be invaluable in creating the optimal cargo body for our trucks. We will take the steps now to ensure the flexibility of our vehicle offering and in turn, meet wider US customer demand, all ensuring the Volta Zero is a stand-out proposition for the important US market.” said Essa Al-Saleh, Chief Executive Officer of Volta trucks.
