German trailer manufacturer, Schmitz Cargobull, has achieved a significant milestone as its electric reefer semi-trailer, the S.KOe COOL, receives official type approval. This makes Schmitz Cargobull the first trailer maker to include the electric generator axle of the S.KOe COOL in its overall vehicle type approval.
The S.KOe COOL, equipped with an e-axle, has successfully met all the necessary safety, environmental, and production requirements set by the European Union. The approval was obtained through prescribed type tests conducted on the vehicle and its components, with the support of TÜV Rheinland. The complete vehicle approval for the S.KOe COOL three-axle, fully-electric semi-trailer was successfully carried out by the technical service of SGS TÜV.
“We are thrilled to be the first OEM to receive this type approval for our fully-electric S.KOe COOL semi-trailer,” said Boris Billich, Chief Sales Officer at Schmitz Cargobull. “This confirms to our customers that they are provided with a tested overall system that complies with all applicable European regulations. The vehicle can be operated safely and in an environmentally friendly manner without any additional administrative testing.”
