Porto Itapoá has acquired a fleet of 20 new electric trucks for its internal operations. Known as Terminal Tractors (TTs), these vehicles are used for internal container movement at the terminal. The acquisition amounts to R$20m and is part of the port’s expansion process, now boasting the largest fleet of electric TTs among Brazilian port terminals.

Sergni Pessoa Rosa Jr., the director of Operations, Technology and Environment of Porto ltapoá, provided projections for the project’s impact: “After completion, the project is expected to save 858,000 litres of fuel for customers and cut carbon emissions by 2,000 tonnes.”

Porto ltapoá states that the introduction of electric machines aligns with its goals to reduce carbon emissions and optimise resource utilisation.

Hua Xiao, General Manager of SANY Brazil, commented on the company’s involvement: “We are honored to be included in this milestone project. Catalyzing the low-carbon transformation of Brazil’s port is not only part of our sustainable development strategy but also a manifestation of our commitment to global environment protection.”
