The 16-tonne HGV incorporates various features, including a connected driving position, a sliding door on the passenger side, integrated screens, and artificial intelligence.

Testing commenced on 9 September in Lyon, France with plans to extend to Paris in October. The objective is to evaluate the vehicle’s performance under real-world conditions, collecting feedback from drivers and fleet managers.

Guillaume Fouré, Chief Project Manager for the Oxygen project at Renault Trucks, said: “Real-life testing of a transport solution designed for the city alongside an expert in urban delivery like GEODIS will enable us to advance together in understanding this complex ecosystem and to provide solutions fully adapted to it.”

Geodis currently operates over 100 electric vehicles and has been heavily committed to the decarbonisation of transport for several years. ”We are proud to be stepping up our partnership with Renault Trucks with the launch of this test phase in Paris and Lyon. We hope that these tests will prove fruitful, so that we can continue to introduce other concrete solutions for sustainable urban logistics,” said Sébastien Faivre, Technical and Performance Director of the Distribution & Express Line of Business at GEODIS.

The ‘Oxygen’ project collaboration with Renault is part of Geodis’ ambitious decarbonisation strategy that has seen it update its commitments in line with Science Based Targets (SBT) for scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. By the end of 2024, Geodis aims to offer low-carbon delivery solutions in 100 French urban areas.
