As orginally published on our sister publication Commercial Motor’s website, UK pallet network Palletline has taken delivery of it’s first electric truck - a 19-tonne Renault E Tech - deploying the vehicle into its central London operations. Using a Zenobe charger, the truck can recharge in four to six hours, with a range of around 135 miles and a payload of more than 8-tonnes.
Supplied by Allports Group, the new Renault E Tech features a curtainside body with a tail-lift at the rear. Palletline worked closely with Allports to explore where this vehicle would best fit within the business.
Ucal Mcleod, general manager of Palletline London, commented: “We are delighted to be running our first electric vehicle in central London. This will be a crucial step in decarbonising our palletised freight deliveries. Allports’ expertise and support throughout the process has been great and we are excited to explore this vehicle’s potential in the real world.”
As well as the consultancy process, Allports will continue to provide support in the form of driver training and telematics.
Allports Group MD, Paul Sanders, said: “We walk clients through the entire process to ensure that electric vehicles fit seamlessly into their existing operation. Moving to electric vehicles today puts clients ahead of the curve and become climate change leaders. It also means we grow in vital understanding about the vehicles in real-world applications.
The vehicle was supplied on a contract hire agreement with Vertellus, a joint venture between Renault Trucks and the Renault dealer network which Allports Group is a shareholder member of. Vertellus specialises in providing electric commercial vehicles on contract hire, using its various partnerships and expertise to support operators in integrating EVs into their fleets.
