Originally launched in July 2023, the PowerUP system was designed to offer level 2 and level 3 DC fast Charging in situations where such power sources were unavailable, such as roadside assistance and emergency response scenarios. The latest iteration transitions from a diesel-powered Class 5 chassis to a fully electric model, aligning with growing market demand for sustainable and zero-emissions solutions.

The zero-emissions PowerUP system, integrated with the Mullen THREE platform, includes multiple configuration options and improvements in charging capabilities. The scalable battery platform can meet various needs, ranging from 10kW to 1MW, and supports both new and repurposed battery cells. Key features include Level 3 DC fast charging, off-grid AC power, and micro-grid connectivity, making it suitable for diverse applications. Additionally, the battery-powered system operates quietly, making it ideal for noise-sensitive environments such as urban centers, hospitals, and residential areas.

The vehicle used for the PowerUP system is the all-electric Mullen THREE, a Class 3 ev cab chassis truck. The system has a peak capacity of 160kWh, scalable to 1MWh, and offers outputs of 2 x Level 3 Fast Chargers at 60kW each, 20kW (up to 160kW) 120V/240V/480V AC Output, and 12V jumper terminals. Additional recharging options include solar and wind off-grid power generation and bi-directional 480V grid connection.

“We’re constantly innovating to meet the evolving needs of the industry,” said David Michery, CEO and chairman of Mullen Automotive. “The feedback on the initial PowerUP concept was positive, but the market clearly demands a zero-emission solution. By leveraging our all-electric Mullen THREE, the new PowerUP offers scalable and high-performance recharging with zero emissions for both the vehicle and power unit.”
