The eActros 600 from Mercedes-Benz Trucks has been named “International Truck of the Year 2025” by a jury of 24 commercial vehicle press editors and journalists from across Europe, marking the second time an electric truck has won the award since its inception in 1977.
Five of the seven shortlisted vehicles this year were battery-electric models but it was the eActros 600 that received 88 votes, surpassing entries from Volvo Trucks and Iveco.
International Truck of the Year Chairman Gianenrico Griffini commented on the jury’s decision: “Mercedes-Benz Trucks designed the eActros 600 as an electric truck right from the start. This decision has put a state-of-the-art BEV on the road capable of fulfilling a wide range of long-haul missions.”
The International Truck of the Year (IToY) award is given to the truck launched in the previous 12 months that makes the most significant contribution to road transport efficiency. Criteria includes technological innovation, comfort, safety, driveability, energy efficiency, environmental impact, and Total Cost of Ownership.
IToY journalists participated in the eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024, covering over 15,000 km. They noted the truck’s ProCabin design, which is reported to improve airflow by 9% compared to the current model.
The powertrain features twin 400 kW electric motors and three 207 kWh LFP battery packs. Journalists observed that a standard 40-tonne tractor-semitrailer combination can achieve a range of over 500 kilometers without intermediate recharging.
Karin Rådström, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, received the award during the IAA Transportation Press Day in Hanover, Germany on 16th September.
