MAN Truck & Bus has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the MAN eTGL which it will unveil at the IAA Transportation 2024 show in Hannover between 17-22 September. The new 12-tonne electric truck completes MAN’s electric truck portfolio, which now covers vehicles from 12 to 42 tonnes.
The eTGL, designed for urban distribution, offers a range of up to 235 kilometres, a charging time of approximately 30 minutes, and a payload capacity of up to 6,600 kgs, depending on the body configuration. These specifications aim to meet the needs of food chains, retailers, and the catering industry for urban logistics.
Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, said: “With the new eTGL, MAN is becoming a true full-range provider in the field of electromobility. From night-time supermarket deliveries to heavy-duty long-distance transport, MAN offers transport companies zero-emission drives from a single source.”
The eTGL utilises the same technical components as its larger counterparts, the eTGS and eTGX. It features two battery packs with a usable capacity of 160 kWh, produced at MAN’s Nuremberg plant. The vehicle can be charged via CCS connection with up to 250 kW.
The truck’s electric motor delivers 285 hp or 210 kW to the rear axle. It has a 4,500 mm wheelbase and can accommodate body lengths of 6,200 to 7300 mm. The day cab includes a digital 12.3-inch display providing information on battery status, range, and energy consumption.
Sales of the MAN eTGL are scheduled to begin in April 2025.
