MAN Truck & Bus has commenced delivery of its fully electric heavy-duty truck, marking a significant step in the company’s transition to electric vehicles. The first 40-tonne electric truck was delivered to automotive supplier DRÄXLMAIER Group in Leipzig.
MAN CEO Alexander Vlaskamp stated: “This is a milestone in our company’s history. MAN presented the first diesel truck 100 years ago. Now we are entering a new electric era.”
The MAN eTGX will be used by Dräxlmaier to transport batteries for the Porsche Macan Electric to the Porsche plant in Leipzig, operating with zero emissions. The truck will be charged with electricity from renewable resources at the Dräxlmaier site.
Felix Klimas, Head of Supply Chain Management at the Dräxlmaier Group, commented on the acquisition: “By using the MAN eTruck, we are realising complete electrification to our customer and reaffirming our commitment to making logistics processes more sustainable and future-oriented.”
- 450 HP (330 kW) power output
- 534 kWh battery capacity (480 kWh usable)
- Six battery packs
- Charging capacity of up to 375 kW via CCS
- Low-loader design with a fifth-wheel height of 950 mm
MAN reports that it has received over 2,500 orders and inquiries for the eTruck. Friedrich Baumann, MAN Chief Sales Officer, said: “We expect that by 2030, around half of all MAN Trucks delivered will be battery-electric.”
The company plans to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the eTGL. This addition will complete MAN’s portfolio of electric trucks ranging from 12 to 50 tonnes.
