Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) has deployed 21 XCIENT hydrogen fuel-cell electric trucks for its logistics operations, in collaboration with Glovis America.
Oscar Kwon, HMGMA CEO, stated: “At HMGMA, we are committed to creating sustainable transportation solutions. Our Hyundai XCIENT Hydrogen fuel-cell trucks that support the Metaplant release zero emissions and offer a cleaner alternative to the traditional freight logistics methods used at other manufacturing facilities.”
The trucks will initially transport vehicle parts from suppliers to the on-site Consolidation Center, with plans to expand to a broader supplier network. These 21 vehicles will comprise more than one-third of the Glovis America truck fleet at HMGMA.
Jim Park, SVP of Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Business Development at Hyundai Motor North America, explained: “HMGMA’s deployment of XCIENT for logistics and operations is one of the main initiatives of HTWO. This is delivering on our strategy and vision to showcase a closed-loop hydrogen logistics ecosystem and improve the environmental sustainability of manufacturing operations.”
