Hyundai has delivered 500 fuel cell commercial vehicles in Guangzhou, marking the start of a significant deployment.
The Guangdong Province, planning for 1,500 vehicles, aims for the largest fuel cell vehicle deployment in China to date.
H2 Solution, a joint venture involving Hyundai HTWO Guangzhou and local state-owned enterprises, handled the delivery, including logistic vehicles, freezer trucks, road sweepers, and buses. An additional 1,000 vehicles are set to follow under a memorandum of understanding between the Guangdong Province government and Hyundai HTWO Guangzhou, with completion expected by year-end.
The fuel cell systems will be produced at Hyundai’s Guangzhou plant, its first outside South Korea, with a yearly capacity of 6,500 systems. The investment, totaling approximately 1.1 billion US dollars, aligns with the region’s hydrogen plan to have 2,500 and 10,000 fuel cell electric vehicles on the road by 2025 and 2030, respectively.
