GreenPower Motor Company Inc has introduced the EV Star ReeferX, a new all-electric refrigerated medium-duty delivery truck. The EV Star ReeferX is now available for orders.
The EV Star ReeferX is built on GreenPower’s EV Star Cab & Chassis platform and is designed for flexibility with customizable box configurations. The vehicle is aimed at mid to last-mile refrigerated delivery and catering applications, transporting temperature-sensitive goods such as fresh and frozen foods, flowers, and pharmaceuticals. Key features include:
- Customisable Design: The vehicle offers versatile box configurations, including multi-temperature zones.
- Increased Payload Capacity: The lighter body allows for a payload capacity of up to 5,500 lbs.
- Sanitation and Durability: The one-piece interior wall structure ensures easy sanitation and consistent insulation for a longer vehicle life.
The EV Star ReeferX features a one-piece box design with a modern aesthetic. The truck includes three-inch thick PET (polyethylene terephthalate) foam insulation, made from recyclable materials, which mitigates temperature variations and does not absorb water.
The EV Star ReeferX supports around-the-clock delivery capabilities with a range of up to 150 miles. It offers several customisable options, including:
- Refrigerator Units: Available in low or high voltage, depending on specific use-cases.
- Door Options: Multiple-door configurations, with standard rear doors, optional rear roll-up doors, and side doors.
GreenPower emphasises the vehicle’s advantages in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for fleet owners, with features designed to reduce maintenance and vehicle downtime. Brendan Riley, President of GreenPower, highlighted the EV Star ReeferX’s capacity to deliver refrigerated and frozen goods efficiently, providing a modern, versatile, all-electric commercial vehicle with a higher payload capacity.
The launch of the EV Star ReeferX comes as federal and state regulations push for the rapid adoption of all-electric commercial vehicles. With the global refrigerated trucks market projected to grow from $9.8 billion in 2023 to $15.4 billion by 2032, and California’s proposed regulation for zero-emission Transportation Refrigeration Units (TRUs) by 2035, the EV Star ReeferX is positioned to meet increasing market demands.
