FUSO is presenting its battery-electric Next Generation eCanter in various configurations at IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, Germany this week. The showcase includes an 8.55 t eCanter with a municipal waste collection body and another 8.55 t model with a 6.2 m box body for logistics use.
Florian Schulz, Head of Sales, Marketing and Customer Services Fuso Europe, stated: “With the eCanter on display at the IAA for the first time as a waste collection vehicle, FUSO is once again demonstrating that the eCanter is an ideal vehicle for municipal applications. In all its variants, we are proving with the vehicle in a wide range of European markets: electric mobility works.”
The waste collection eCanter features a KAOUSSIS body with automated bin lifting and tipping, an integrated bin washing system, and a 4m3 drum capacity. It has a 140 km range with its 82.6 kWh battery pack. Athens and Thessaloniki have ordered 89 of these vehicles for urban waste collection.
The 8.55 t eCanter with a box body includes new safety features such as Active Brake Assist 6, Blind Spot Information System, and Attention Assist. It has a range of up to 200 km with its 123.9 kWh battery pack and can be fast-charged from 20% to 80% in about 40 minutes.
FUSO is also presenting information about its EcoSystem, which includes charging solutions, service contracts, and driver training. Visitors can test drive the eCanter at the event’s Driving Experience area.
The eCanter is available in over 46 variants, which FUSO claims covers 85% of conventional vehicle applications in Europe. It is produced at FUSO’s plant in Tramagal, Portugal for the European market and in Kawasaki, Japan for other markets.
