Just 34 months since Windrose Technology was founded, the Chinese EV startup has begun mass production of its Windrose R700 electric semi with the first completed trucks rolling off the production line and already in operation with two logistics companies.
Asia-based 3PL Kerry Logistics was the first customer to take delivery of the newly produced 670-km long-range Windrose electric semis.
Windrose previously partnered with Kerry Logistics on testing its new truck, including a 2,365km round trip from Kunshan to Beijing, achieved with just two charging stops. The pair also conducted a 677km direct journey from Jinan to Nanjing, completed without recharging and with 32% battery remaining upon arrival.
The newly deliveried trucks will be used by Kerry Logistics on 1,000km+ highway lanes between Shanghai and Beijing, and other similar routes in China.
The second batch of Windrose Trucks have gone to Rokin Logistics for use on its contract with wine and spirits producer Rémy Cointreau in China.
The Windrose truck offers a 670km range at a total weight of 49 tonnes and is supported by advanced charging capabilities, tested across more than 140 public chargers globally. “We’ve tested compatibility with chargers from major brands like Shell, BP, Total, ABB, and Siemens. The truck is designed to charge efficiently and reliably in diverse conditions,” Windrose Founder and CEO Wen Han explained.
The vehicle’s fast-charging technology, capable of near-megawatt levels, is another standout feature. “We’ve implemented megawatt-level charging in China and tested it in Europe and the United States,” Han stated. “This ensures the truck can charge quickly and in a wide range of locations, meeting the needs of real-world operations.”
The truck’s design also incorporates a central-seating cabin for improved aerodynamics and visibility. Han noted the cabin’s spacious interior, specifying: “It provides 8.2 cubic meters of space, sufficient for various operational needs.”
Further customer deliveries are planned for the first half of 2025 in the US, followed by European markets in the second half of the year. The truck will subsequently roll out in New Zealand, Australia and other regions.
As recently reported by FCZ, the UK is also a target market for Windrose after confirmation that the truck’s size does conform with UK legislation.
Founder Wen Han has set an ambitious target of having 10,000 trucks on the road globally by
