The test vehicle is a HIGH CAB Semi Lowliner 4x2T model. Designwerk has partnered with German rental company GTT Greiwing Truck & Trailer to facilitate this program.

Fabian Bahlmann, Sales Manager, E-Trucks Europe North, stated: “The test tour is aimed at fleet operators whose fleet consists of lowliner tractor units and who want to build up experience with e-mobility in this special area of application.”

The electric Lowliner features a fifth wheel height of 937mm, allowing the use of mega trailers for volume transport with a clear loading height of three metres. This configuration can potentially increase volume capacity by up to 15% or accommodate 50% more load carriers compared to conventional equivalents.

The vehicle uses a flat LFP battery developed by Designwerk to achieve its low overall height and fifth wheel height.

For those unable to participate in the test tour, Designwerk will offer test drives of the electric lowliner at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover from 17-22 September, 2024.
