Daimler Truck AG has started deliveries of its electric Rizon trucks in California, marking the initial step in the rollout process. These all-electric trucks, belonging to the US Class 4 and 5 categories, are tailored to meet the needs of various customers.
The deployment in California includes 20 e18L vehicles, with specific configurations catering to different applications. LA Sanitation & Environment (LASAN) has incorporated seven trucks equipped with stake bed bodies, while Goodwill Industries of San Diego County has integrated an e18L dry van box truck into its operations. Additionally, Diamond Environmental has deployed four, and Ecorecycling is utilizing three and Velocity Truck Rental and Leasing have received five e18L box trucks, available for immediate rental or lease to operate in California.
The Rizon vehicles are designed to address the needs of urban and last-mile deliveries, with a range of up to 160 miles (250km) per day. Offering customisable configurations and boasting zero-emission certification, the vehicles have obtained approval as a zero-emission solution from both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resource Board’s (CARB). Additionally, they fully comply with U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Distribution of Rizon Trucks is exclusively managed by Velocity EV, a leading zero-emission truck distributor and the exclusive US distributor for Daimler Truck’s Rizon brand. These trucks are currently available at California Trucks Centres and Velocity Truck Centres. Velocity EV, based in Whittier, California, is a subsidiary of Velocity Vehicle Group, one of the largest full-service commercial truck dealerships in the United States.
