Dachser is deploying three zero-emission vehicles for its latest ‘emission-free delivery zone’: two Fuso eCanter electric trucks and a Renault Master E-Tech Electric van. The zone covers Cologne’s historic downtown, including areas around the Cathedral, main train station, and key shopping street

Cologne represents one of 16 European cities where Dachser has implemented its emission-free delivery concept. The company plans to expand this approach to eight additional cities by the end of 2025.

“The launch of DACHSER Emission-Free Delivery here in Cologne is an important milestone in gaining experience with alternative powertrains,” said Alexander Haak, General Manager European Logistics. “The three zero-emission vehicles are clean and quiet on the streets downtown, some of which are quite narrow.”

The vehicles recharge at Dachser’s Cologne-Gremberghoven branch using green electricity. The smaller Renault van is particularly suited to navigating Cologne’s narrow old town streets.

“Road freight transport in the European Union will gradually switch to trucks with emission-free powertrains,” noted Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics. “As a family-owned company, we see it as part of our responsibility to prepare and actively shape this transformation.”

Currently, Dachser operates over 90 zero-emission vehicles across Europe, with plans to continue expanding its alternative powertrain fleet.
