Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD showed a pair of zero-emission battery electric trucks at IAA Transportation 2022, both vehicles will be rolled out across Europe in 2024. BYD has so far produced 90,000 battery powered commercial vehicles, 15,000 of which are trucks, and is now gearing up to bring the truck range to Europe - it already imports buses across Europe.

Chinese truck builder BYD showed two BEV trucks at IAA Transportation 2022

The vehicle is currently sold in four countries in Europe - Netherlands, Norway, Hungary and Greece - with the plans to extend to 20 countries by 2025. Javier Contijoch, vice president of sales, explains the new vehicle have been designed and developed specifically for the European market, confirming right-hand-drive versions are currently in development, and will be sold in the UK next year. The two new vehicles ETM6 and ETH8 cover the light and medium rigid market, the former is a 7.5-tonner, the latter set to be plated at 19 tonne GVW. Both are powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries, and have a maximum range of 200km, claims the manufacturer.
