The company is introducing two electric HGVs to its home delivery fleet, with a third vehicle scheduled to arrive in early 2025. These vehicles are expected to complete 12-14 deliveries daily, serving both its nationwide home delivery network and B&Q’s showroom network for larger items such as kitchens and bedrooms.

Amélie Gallichan-Todd, B&Q Supply & Logistics Director, said: “We’re working hard to improve our fulfilment services to give our customers more choice of when and how their B&Q purchases are delivered. Our aim is to give customers more choice of speed and location whilst, at the same time, fulfilling our commitment to reduce our impact on the environment, and the introduction of these electric trucks into our fleet is another step towards our transition to alternative fuels.”

B&Q plans to expand its electric fleet in 2025, adding to its existing fleet which includes what the company reports as the second largest Liquified Natural Gas fleet in the country. The retailer is also exploring innovative delivery methods, including a trial with DPD UK in Milton Keynes using autonomous robots and a partnership with Deliveroo offering 25-minute delivery times.

These initiatives support B&Q’s target to achieve net zero for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040, as outlined in the company’s latest Build A Life Report.
