Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has introduced its all-electric light-duty eCanter truck to Singapore, delivering the first unit to a local customer. Singapore aims to have all vehicles on its roads running on cleaner energy by 2040; the government has outlined a plan to promote electric vehicle adoption, including a target of 60,000 charging points by 2030.

The eCanter, first introduced in 2017, is designed for urban deliveries. It produces no local emissions and offers reduced noise and vibration levels compared to traditional diesel trucks. In Singapore, the eCanter is available in four variants with gross vehicle weights ranging from 5 to 8.55 tons. Wheelbase lengths vary from 2.5 to 4.45 meters, and the truck can be equipped with different battery sizes up to 124kWh capacity. Charging times vary depending on the method used.

MFTBC’s President and CEO Karl Deppen said: “The eCanter is expected to satisfy the various demands of customers in Singapore, just as it has been doing in 38 markets worldwide.”

Goldbell Engineering Pte, Fuso’s authorised distributor in Singapore for over 40 years, will handle distribution of the eCanter. FUSO already has a presence in the Singapore market with its diesel-powered Canter, Fighter, and Super Great trucks.

The eCanter comes equipped with several safety features, including Active Attention Assist, Active Sideguard Assist 1.0, and Active Brake Assist (ABA®5). Under certain conditions, the ABA®5 system can detect vehicles and moving pedestrians and initiate emergency braking.
