XPO Logistics has reinforced its commitment to sustainability by placing an order for 165 Renault Trucks electric vehicles, including 105 Renault Trucks E-Tech T 44t. The collaboration between Renault Trucks and XPO Logistics aims to contribute to the ongoing efforts in decarbonising the transportation sector.
Known for its dedication to reducing its carbon footprint, XPO Logistics has confirmed the procurement of 165 electric trucks, consisting of 105 tractors and 60 rigids. This substantial order reflects XPO Logistics’ ongoing investment in transitioning its fleet to electric vehicles. As a global leader in transport and logistics, the company is making strides towards a more sustainable future.
The order includes 60 Renault Trucks E-Tech D and D Wide, as well as 105 Renault Trucks E-Tech T – the latest electric model slated for series production in Bourg-en-Bresse by the end of 2023. Bruno Kloeckner, Managing Director of XPO Logistics France, emphasised the significance of this acquisition in an interview with French daily newspaper Les Echos. He mentioned that XPO Logistics had already taken a pioneering step in electric mobility with its initial purchase of 65 Renault Trucks E-Tech electric rigids a year ago.
The 165 recently ordered Renault Trucks E-Tech vehicles are intended to gradually replace XPO Logistics’ diesel fleet on suburban and regional missions in France. With a target to make approximately 25% of its deliveries using electric vehicles by 2030, XPO Logistics aims to reduce its co2 emissions by more than 26,000 tonnes.
In alignment with upcoming regulations on urban deliveries, XPO Logistics, in partnership with Renault Trucks, is transforming its fleet to assist its customers in achieving decarbonization objectives. XPO Logistics has set a goal to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions in France by 25% by 2025 compared to 2019. Concurrently, Renault Trucks aims to achieve 50% of its sales in electric vehicles by 2030, with a long-term vision of making 100% of its marketed vehicles carbon-neutral by 2040. The collaboration between XPO Logistics and Renault Trucks marks a significant contribution to the collective efforts toward a more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation industry.
