Volvo Trucks has announced it has sold over 4,300 battery electric trucks throughout the world in 2022. In Europe, the company has a 32% share of the heavy electric truck market, taking market leadership in the fast growing sector, selling 1,041 units. Roger Alm, the President of Volvo Trucks, says the company is determined to lead the electric truck transformation and that its market-leading position in 2022 is proof the company is doing just that.
Volvo Trucks is committed to being the catalyst for the transition to electric trucks, with a goal of having 50% of its global sales of new trucks be electric by 2030. Although the market for electric trucks is still small compared to traditional diesel variants, the trend is clear, and many of the company’s customers are now starting their own shift to electric, says the company announcement.
Volvo Trucks’ success in the electric truck market is a result of its commitment to sustainability and innovation. The company believes that electric trucks will play a significant role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality in cities. Volvo Trucks has been working on electric trucks since 2009 and has been actively involved in the development of charging infrastructure for electric trucks.
