The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will be expanded over all London Boroughs on August 29, 2023, the Mayor of London has announced. This marks a significant widening of the charging zone and will apply to cars, motorbikes, vans and specialist vehicles up to 3.5t GVW. Trucks, vans and heavy specialist vehicles over 3.5t GVW are exempt from the charge.
Vehicles that do not comply with the ULEZ requirements are expected to pay £12.50 daily fee. This includes ULEZ inhabitants. If you park inside the zone and do not drive, you do not have to pay the ULEZ penalty. A £110 million scrappage plan has also been established to assist low-income Londoners, handicapped Londoners, charities, and small enterprises and sole traders to shift to ultra low emission compliant vehicles. Successful scrappage applicants will receive a grant to scrap or retrofit their vehicle for certain vans and minibuses for the first time.
Use the TfL checker to see if your vehicle meets the ULEZ emission standards, use the TfL vehicle checker.
