Nikola Corporation operating under its HYLA brand, has named Mary Chan as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). This appointment will take effect on October 9, 2023. In her role as COO, Chan will assume leadership of several crucial departments within the company, including engineering, programme management, product development, supply chain, and manufacturing. This strategic move aligns with the vision of Nikola’s President and CEO, Steve Girsky, aimed at optimising decision-making processes and enhancing Nikola’s reputation for engineering and manufacturing excellence.
“I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Mary for over a decade, and I cannot think of a more qualified individual to assume the role of COO at Nikola,” Girsky explained. ”Mary brings a solid understanding of business, combined with extensive experience in technology and transportation, spanning both engineering and management. Her expertise will be a tremendous asset to the Nikola team.”
Chan’s professional background includes her previous position as Managing Partner at VectoIQ, where she played a pivotal role in Nikola Corporation’s public launch. She also served as the President of the Global Connected Consumer group at General Motors (GM), where she led the development of connected infotainment products and OnStar broadband data services. Under her leadership, GM successfully launched 4G LTE connectivity across its global brands in the U.S., China, Europe, and Mexico.
