As part of a 1000-unit truck order for hydrigen fuel-cell vehicles with Sino-Synergy Hydrogen Energy Technology (“Sino-Synergy”), XCMG, one of the world’s top three construction machinery manufacturers, has delivered a batch of 100 hydrogen-fuelled trucks to the end client Mengxi Zhenghe Group for the construction of a mine near Ordos in China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
XCMG will provide over 1,000 hydrogen-fuelled trucks to the firm by 2025 under a strategic cooperation strategy with Sino-Synergy, a leading hydrogen fuel cell manufacturer in China. The agreement is an important step in XCMG’s quest to establish itself as a leader in the country’s hydrogen-fuelled green energy transportation business.
“We are confident that using XCMG’s hydrogen-fuelled heavy truck can create a safe, efficient, economic and low-carbon transportation service for the majority of mining areas,” said Luo Dong, Deputy General Manager of Mengxi Zhenghe Group, the end client of this deal. “This marks another landmark bulk purchase order of such heavy trucks from XCMG.”
The hydrogen-powered heavy trucks from XCMG have a power output of 110kW and a multi-gear automated manual gearbox (AMT). The truck has a range of over 450km and is powered by XCMG’s e-drive motor, which has an efficiency of over 97%.
Using 100 of these hydrogen fuel cell vehicles for 50,000km per year will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 7,950 tonnes when compared to gas-powered vehicles, according to operational data calculations. In 2020, XCMG debuted its first hydrogen-powered heavy vehicle, marking the company’s initial steps toward becoming a pioneer in the application of hydrogen energy technology.
