Charging specialist Ekoenergetyka and bp pulse have announced a strategic partnership to address charging infrastructure challenges for heavy-duty electric vehicles, focusing on developing reliable overnight charging solutions for e-trucks.
The collaboration targets three primary charging scenarios: destination charging at logistics centres, highway charging during regulatory rest breaks, and overnight charging at depots or public stops.
Maciej Wojeński, Co-founder and Member of the Supervisory Board of Ekoenergetyka-Polska, highlighted the industry challenge: “Organising overnight charging for large e-truck fleets, especially in public parking areas along the TEN-T network, is a significant challenge for the electrification of heavy-duty transport. While charging infrastructure is steadily growing, the current availability remains a challenge for some fleet operators. Together with bp pulse, we are committed to helping to address these gaps by providing efficient, high-power solutions.”
Nigel Head, European EV Truck Director at bp pulse, said: “Collaborating with Ekoenergetyka on e-truck overnight charging solutions is another step forward in our plans to help meet the needs of UK and European HGV operators transitioning their fleets to EVs. Developing safe, reliable, space efficient and scalable overnight e-truck solutions will form an important cornerstone of bp’s future e-truck customer and network offer across Europe.”
The partnership aims to create comprehensive charging infrastructure that supports the evolving needs of electric truck fleet operators. By combining their expertise, the two companies seek to develop innovative solutions that address current limitations in electric vehicle charging for heavy-duty transport.
Overnight charging remains the most common scenario, typically involving 6-8 hours of charging at depots or public stops. The collaboration between Ekoenergetyka and bp pulse is expected to provide more efficient and accessible charging options for logistics companies transitioning to electric fleets.
