Netherlands operator Bos Logistics and Air France KLM Martinair Cargo have launched their first all-electric truck service, marking a new phase in their environmental initiatives. The Volvo FH Electric truck will handle consolidated cargo delivery between Air France KLM Martinair Cargo and various air cargo agents.
The new vehicle, displaying both companies’ branding, follows earlier environmental efforts that included the adoption of HVO100 Biofuel, which reduced co2 emissions by up to 90% in their existing fleet.
“With the introduction of this electric truck, we reinforce our commitment to a cleaner future,” said Frank Bos Jr, General Manager of Bos Logistics. “This vehicle contributes to reducing our CO2 emissions and is an important step in promoting environmentally responsible logistics.”
Koen Bolster, Vice President Worldwide Operations AFKLMP Cargo, added: “The deployment of an all-electric truck underlines our determination to improve the logistics chain wherever possible. Together with Bos Logistics, we are today taking an important step towards more environmentally responsible logistics.”
The initiative has already shown positive results in reducing vehicle movements at Air France KLM Martinair Cargo’s facilities and Schiphol Airport. The electric truck began operations immediately following its introduction at a ceremony held at Air France KLM Martinair Cargo’s facilities.
Both companies indicate that the Volvo electric truck deployment represents the beginning of their ongoing sustainability efforts in logistics. operations.
