Ceva Logistics has begun delivering BMW and Mini vehicles in the Paris region using an all-electric car carrier.
Since September, the electric transporter has been operating from CEVA’s logistics platform in Marly-La-Ville, covering a daily circuit of 270 kilometres. The pilot programme, running until the first quarter of 2025, aims to assess the truck’s performance in urban and suburban environments.
“Reducing the carbon impact of our activities is essential to our CSR strategy in France,” said Vincent Salimon, CEO of BMW Group France. “We’re proud to partner with Ceva Logistics to accelerate the decarbonisation of our logistics.”
The electric car transporter is one of the first of its kind in Europe, with batteries recharged between delivery rounds or at the dedicated Charging station in Marly-la-Ville.
Emmanuel Cheremetinski, Ceva Logistics’ global finished vehicle logistics leader, noted: “We’ve demonstrated our ability to meet the most demanding logistics requirements. This electric car transporter pilot bears witness to our shared determination to implement more sustainable logistics solutions.”
The project aligns with BMW Group’s sustainability goals, which include reducing co2 emissions by 40% per car by 2030 and increasing electric vehicle sales to 50% worldwide.
CEVA Logistics plans to expand its low-carbon fleet, with 450 electric trucks currently in operation and a target of 1,450 low-carbon vehicles by the end of 2025.
