At the recent Road Transport Expo, Freight Carbon Zero organised the ”Big Debate”, bringing the technical and product experts from the truck manufacturer on the stage to discuss their plans to decarbonise the UK’s commercial vehicle line-up. The event was recorded live and in a special two-part edition of the podcast we’re giving you the opportunity to catch up on the discussion. So whether you couldn’t make it on the day or want to listen again the podcast is now live for your enjoyment.
In Part One of the Big Debate we discuss the future fuels needed to power the trucks for the future. Be it HVO, biomethane, electric or Hydrogen, it is clear there will be a lot more supply and availability required if the UK is going to successful decarbonise its truck fleet. While in Part 2 we turn the attention to infrastructure, the chassis packaging issues associated with the 6x2 tractor unit and industry transformation.
Special thanks to all the participants - Phil Rootham (Scania), Nick Handy (MAN), Kevin Eichele (SANY), Andrew Scott (Renault Trucks), Gareth Lumsdaine (Iveco), Adam Bennett (DAF), James Venables (Mercedes) and John Comer (Volvo) - for your expert insights and input into the debate.
