Milence, the joint venture between Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP, and Volvo Group, has announced plans to develop its first charging hub in Spain, located in the Zaragoza Logistics Platform (PlaZa).
The strategic location in north-eastern Spain’s Aragon region offers good connectivity, situated near the A2 motorway and Zaragoza airport. The hub will be positioned at the intersection of two crucial TEN-T transport corridors: the Mediterranean and Atlantic routes, enhancing European logistics infrastructure.
Anja van Niersen, CEO of Milence, said: “I am delighted to see the development of our first charging hub in Spain at the Zaragoza Logistics Platform, a strategic location at the heart of the Spanish logistics industry.”
The charging hub will be developed in two phases. Initially, four high-performance Combined Charging System (CCS) chargers will power up to four bays. The second phase will introduce additional charging bays, including Megawatt Charging System (MCS) chargers.
Expected to be operational in the first half of 2025, the hub will feature Milence’s signature design elements and provide on-site amenities such as toilets and showers for drivers.
“Each new hub is an important milestone in building the infrastructure necessary for a sustainable transport network across Europe,” van Niersen added. “We remain committed to scaling up the transition to electric heavy-duty vehicles at a pace that meets the needs of the market.”
This expansion marks Milence’s eighth market, reinforcing its commitment to developing Europe’s largest public charging network for heavy-duty electric vehicles.
