Milence, the joint venture between Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP, and the Volvo Group, has announced the establishment of its third charging hub in Sweden, located in Åstorp. Milence is dedicated to promoting a fossil-free future for road transport by developing a large-scale public electric charging network across Europe for heavy-duty vehicles and buses
The new charging hub is situated in a newly built logistics center in Helsingborg, one of Sweden’s major logistics regions. Its proximity to the E4 motorway, a key route to Stockholm, enhances its strategic value. Åstorp, known for its business-friendly environment, welcomes Milence’s contribution to local growth and development.
The location of the charging hub is intended to improve logistics operations’ accessibility and demonstrate the region’s commitment to sustainable transport. The Åstorp hub serves as a vital node on the busy Malmö-Gothenburg route.
Development in Two Phases
The Åstorp charging hub will be developed in two phases:
- Phase 1: Launches with four charging bays equipped with high-performance Combined Charging System (CCS) chargers, each capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power.
- Phase 2: Expands to 11 charging bays and includes the installation of Megawatt Charging System (MCS) chargers once the technology is available, providing faster and more reliable charging options.
The hub will also offer amenities such as a lounge, showers, and toilets to enhance the customer experience.
