ChargeZone, an Indian electric vehicle charging network operator, has opened its first charging hub using Kempower technology in Gujarat state. The facility, situated at Shreenath Food Hub along the Ahmedabad-Mumbai highway, marks the beginning of a planned rollout across 15 additional sites in India.
The new charging hub features a 400kW Kempower Power Unit system with multiple CCS2 connectors, designed to accommodate both passenger vehicles and electric trucks. The system utilises dynamic power distribution technology to manage charging across five connection points.
“We are delighted to work with ChargeZone, one of the leading charge point operators in India,” said Carlo Cecchi, director of new markets at Kempower. “Both companies share a vision of setting up high-quality fast-charging hubs to facilitate the electrification of intercity and interstate travel.”
The project involved collaboration between three companies: ChargeZone as the operator, Kempower providing the charging technology, and WGB Charging Sol Private handling installation.
Kartikey Hariyani, founder and CEO of ChargeZone, commented on the development: “Integrating Kempower’s cutting-edge chargers into our supercharging network is a significant leap forward for India’s EV ecosystem. With Kempower’s advanced technology and WBG’s engineering expertise, we’re elevating the charging experience for EV drivers and supporting the shift to high-capacity chargers.”
The hub employs ChargEye, a cloud-based management system, to optimise charging efficiency and reduce waiting times. According to WGB’s MD Alfredo Couturier, the partnership aims to address infrastructure challenges in India’s market while supporting commercial fleets and heavy-duty transport.
ChargeZone currently operates over 4,300 charging points across 400 locations in India and the UAE. The company has announced plans to establish one million charging points across key electric vehicle markets in India, serving cars, buses and trucks.
