ReFuels, a supplier of renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) for heavy goods vehicles in Europe, will receive biomethane from Green2x, a company developing biomethane and green fuel production facilities.

ReFuels currently operates 14 Bio-CNG refueling stations in the UK, with two more under construction. The company plans to expand to 30-40 stations by the end of 2026.

Jasper Nillesen, Executive Director of ReFuels, said: “The commercial cooperation between Green2x and ReFuels is our largest offtake agreement to date and part of the strategy to ensure sufficient biomethane supply for our rapidly growing demand that is driven by fleet owners looking for an economically viable solution to decarbonise their operations.”

Green2x is developing a biomethane production plant at the Port of Vordingborg, Denmark. The facility is expected to produce over 175 million normal cubic meters of biomethane annually, equivalent to approximately 2 TWh of energy, starting in late 2027 or early 2028. The company plans to use agricultural residues, such as straw, as feedstock for biomethane production.

The agreement is expected to provide Green2x with access to the UK road transport market, while supporting ReFuels’ biomethane supply for its growing network of refueling stations.

Mikkel Sjølin Kiil, CEO of Green2x, commented: “I am extremely pleased with this strategic partnership as Green2x and ReFuels are on a shared mission to decarbonise the hard-to-abate industries, such as heavy road transport.”
