Bridgestone has completed its Ecopia range with the introduction of a trailer tyre. Designed to be the tyre maker’s most fuel efficient offering, from February fleets will be able to fit Ecopia tyres on steer, drive and trailer axles.
Waqqas Ahmad, commercial sales director, Bridgestone EMEA said: “Bridgestone Ecopia represents the future of long-haul transport. Efficient and innovative, our flagship long-haul tyre range is engineered to help reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions – without compromising tyre performance levels.
“Now with the launch of Ecopia Trailer, our partners can maximise these benefits. For both fleet operations and the OEMs we work with, the complete Bridgestone Ecopia range is here to support your decarbonisation objectives, help you meet new and upcoming sustainability regulations and, at the same time, reduce your total cost of ownership.”
Steer, drive and trailer tyres offer improved characteristics to help lower fuel consumption. This contributes to CO2 emissions savings of 3.2%, 6% and 5.6% respectively per kilometre driven. Bridgestone has also developed the Ecopia range to have less of an environmental impact during the manufacturing phase.
Jaroslav Klčo, co-owner of A.R.P.I. Slovakia, whose truck fleet uses Bridgstone’s Ecopia range, said: “With the new Bridgestone Ecopia tyres, we significantly reduced fuel consumption. They also ensure even wear and help to achieve higher mileage. Drivers appreciate tyres that offer good grip in dry and wet conditions on highways, even in winter.”
The Ecopia range features reduced rolling resistance and improved wear characteristics so the tyre lasts for longer. Compared to previous generation products the steer tyre is able to achieve up to 40% higher mileage while the drive tyre can go for up to 6% longer and the trailer tyre offers 10% greater mileage. The steer tyre makes use of spiral belt technology to achieve such a significant increase in mileage.
